The
Marine
Resources Advisory Council (MRAC) is an appointee board
that advises the New York State Department of Environmental
Conservation on how to regulate the state fisheries.
In what they are calling "a move to save fish,"
the MRAC is looking into bringing back a directed trawler
fishery for striped bass. This practice has not been allowed
since 1985 due to it being a direct cause of the collapse
of the striped bass fishery.
We have submitted a letter against this threat. It may be
viewed at nycrf.org.
We will be going to any and all meetings concerning this issue. |
